CAVTAT AND KONAVLE TOUR

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik to Cavtat with a guide. On the way to Cavtat stop on the lookout above the Park Orsula. After free time to take pictures of Dubrovnik we continue to drive towards Cavtat.

Cavtat is located on the western shores of Konavle, 19 km southeast of Dubrovnik. Name of Cavtat is croatized form originated from the name Civitas vetus, as the residents who moved from Cavtat to Dubrovnik used to call their first habitation Epidaurus. In the place of today's Cavtat was a Greek colony Epidaurum which in 228. B.C. came under the rule of the Romans who founded their colony Epidaurus. The ancient inhabitants of Cavtat leave the place retreating before the onslaught of the Slavs 614. A.D. and went to a fort near hill Srđ. There they established settlement later named Ragusa, from which nucleus has emerged today Dubrovnik.

Upon arrival in Cavtat you will have a walking tour of the town with a guide and free time to enjoy a stroll along the promenade.

After free time we head to the Konavle to visit Sokol tower. Sokol tower or Sokol castle is located in the Dunave in Konavle. First written mention of the fortress is from 1391. although the fort or its precursor existed before. It is established by Bosnian nobles but it came into possession of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1420 after the sale of Konavle. Since then begin a continuous work on its upgrading, reorganization, reinforcement, arming and maintenance.

Upon completion of the visit Sokol tower you will have an option of going to one of the local restaurants and tasting some local specialties.

In the afternoon we drive back to Dubrovnik.

DUBROVNIK WALKING TOUR

Dubrovnik (lat. Ragusium) is a city in south of Croatia, administrative center of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and one of the most historic Croatian tourist destinations. In 1979. the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages the Republic of Dubrovnik as the only city-state on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, was the biggest rival of Venetian Republic. With its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Dubrovnik was one of the centers of Croatian language and literature, home to many notable Croatian poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.

 

During the walking  tour of the Old Town, an experienced local guide will introduce you all interesting facts from the rich history of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Republic. You'll walk through Stradun, the most famous and largest street of the Old Town and pass the Onofrio Fountain and Orlando's Column. Walking through the narrow streets will take you back into the past and you will become familiar with the way of life of residents of Dubrovnik Republic. During the tour you will see the old harbor, the Rector's Palace, the Cathedral, Sponza Palace and the Church of St. Blaise. Walking through the Old Town surrounded by magnificent walls will complete your experience of the "Pearl of the Adriatic".

DUBROVNIK PANORAMA TOUR

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from the center of Dubrovnik to the first lookout over the park Orsula. Upon arrival free time to take pictures.  After free time we continue to drive towards the hill Srđ.

Hill Srđ is 415 meters high and is located above the city of Dubrovnik on its northern side. The slopes of hill Srđ descend to the sea and the city of Dubrovnik on the south side. Since ancient times hill Srđ was a natural shelter of the city of Dubrovnik from the wind, but also the invasion of various conquerors who have a history of repeatedly trying to take control over Dubrovnik Republic.

On the hill Srđ, after Napoleon's troops fraudulently won the city of Dubrovnik, began construction of the fortress Imperial which was completed by Austria-Hungary. The fortress had a major strategic impact for the defense of the city on its northern side.

During the war fortress Imperial played very important rule. In the Fortress were defensive positions of the Croatian army on which the brave defenders successfully resisted the fiercest attacks of Serb-Chetnik army and the JNA.

 Upon arriving at the top of the hill Srđ we will have free time to enjoy lunch and the panorama. On top of Srđ you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Old City, Lokrum Island, located in front of the Old Town and the open sea.

After free time on Srđ we are driving towards the bridge Franjo Tudjman with a view to the port of Gruz, Lapad and the mouth of the river Dubrovnik.

After the panorama on the bridge we will return to Dubrovnik.

ETHNO VILLAGE TOUR

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik to Primorje. Driving along the old road from Trsteno to Majkovi and stopping at the lookout in Majkovi for photo session. After the break, the journey continues to Smokovljani with a panoramic view of the village.

Upon arrival in Smokovljani Ethno village, we will take a look at the old house, farm animals and gardens. After a short tour we will enjoy folklore dancing and the opportunity to participate in the dance. After the dance, there would be served a welcome drink, brandy, juices, figs and other home made sweets. The hosts introduced us to the old crafts such as weaving, processing wool, knitting clothes, processing of wheat and corn flour and the use of agricultural tools. After getting to know the old crafts we will have a  lunch that was prepared in the traditional way. For lunch you will taste meat under the bell which is known as a local specialty. After lunch it is possible to buy souvenirs that are hand made of stone.

After free time we start to return to Dubrovnik.

NATIONAL PARK KRKA

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik in the morning to the Krka National Park with breaks as needed.

Krka National Park is located on the same river Krka. Including the submerged part of the mouth of the river, Krka is 72.5 km in length, 22. longest river in Croatia. It rises at the foot of the mountain Dinara, 3.5 km northeast of Knin. With seven waterfalls and a total drop of 224 m, Krka is a natural phenomenon.

Upon arrival to the National Park embarking on a tour accompanied by a local guide. Waterfall Roski is one of the main attractions of Nacionallnog park because of its exceptional beauty. After sightseeing we will have free time for lunch.

After lunch we head towards Sibenik. Sibenik is known as Kresimir's town and is one of the most beautiful towns in Dalmatia. The most famous building in Sibenik is Cathedral of St. James, which is the most significant architectural achievement of the 15th and 16th century on Croatian soil. Due to its exceptional value in 2000. was included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.

After visiting Sibenik, accompanied by a local guide, we will have free time to enjoy Sibenik. In the afternoon drive back to Dubrovnik.

MEĐUGORJE AND ETHNO VILLAGE TOUR

EXCURSION PLAN:

In the morning we depart from Dubrovnik to Medjugorje. Medjugorje is one of the most famous Roman Catholic shrines in the world. It became famous for the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, which first started in 1981, after which it began to develop religious tourism. Since then this place is one of the most visited tourist centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is annually visited by about a million Catholics from around the world.

 

After coming to Medjugorje follows a group climbing the Apparition Hill and leisure for prayer, and then descend to the church of St. James to attend Mass.

 

After the Mass, followed by free time to see the church area we go to Ethno village for lunch. Ethno village is a unique hotel and tourist complex which spreads over four acres of land. For the purpose of the complex,  50 stone houses were built to celebrate the tradition of architecture and way of life in Herzegovina for centuries.

 

After lunch, we will have free time to walk around Ethno village and in the afternoon we depart for Dubrovnik.

MONTENEGRO DAY TRIP

EXCURSION PLAN:

We depart from Dubrovnik with a private guide in the direction of Herceg Novi. Upon arrival in Herceg Novi visit of the town that is settled on the Adriatic coast at the entrance of Boka Kotorska Bay.

After visit of Herceg Novi, we continue our drive to Perast, known as a small coastal village located just in front of the straits Verige. It is the largest monument of the Bay of Kotor with many palaces, churches and stone houses.

After visit of Perast, boarding on the boat and going to the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, which was created thanks to the Perast sailors who threw stones in the sea and created today's island where  the shrine of Our Lady of the Rocks was built.  After visit of the island we continue our journey towards Kotor. Upon arrival in Kotor, accompanied by a local guide, we will visit the city that is surrounded by ancient walls drawn into the distant past of the city. It was known as an important trade and transportation town at the crossroads of the Balkans and the Mediterranean. Kotor had the naval base with its own merchant fleet. Crafts and guilds were highly developed and they had their own schools, hospitals and orphanages. Kotor  is known for its numerous churches and the Cathedral of St. Tryphon which is a patron of the city.

After visit of Kotor lunch in a restaurant, and then we continue our journey to Budva, small tourist town on the Montenegrin coast. It is also known for the Old town, which was damaged in the earthquake and then again restored.

After visit of Budva we continue our journey towards St. Stefan. Close to Budva is a Bellevue Photo stop which is a great place to enjoy in the view of the island of St. Stefan. It was built as a fortification in the year of 1442 when the first inhabitants settled. Island is protected by the walls against invasions of Turkish and pirates. There are three churches on the island, one of which is the church of St. Stefan, to which it was named. It was known as the commercial and transportation center especially during the Venetian Republic.

After a photo break and enjoying the view of the island we drive back to Dubrovnik

MOSTAR DAY TRIP

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik in the morning in the direction of Mostar.

On the way to Mostar organized break in Pocitelj, an overview of the city which is a fortress, which dates back to the Middle Ages, it is located near the town of Capljina along the river Neretva. This Herzegovinian town begins to intensively build the second half of the 16th century combining two architectural styles, Oriental and Mediterranean.

The journey continues in the direction of Blagaj, city where the Buna River originates. Blagaj is known for it`s rich history, in ancient times there was an Illyrian fortress and a Roman castrum at the area of ​​Blagaj. During the Ottoman Empire, the town grew and became the center of Blagaj kadiluk. Blagaj had seven mosques, two inns, four Musafirhana, madrasah, two mektebs, and four stone bridge on the river Buna.

After a sightseeing of Blagaj follows free time for lunch.

After lunch we continue our journey towards Mostar. Located on the banks of the Neretva River it is cultural and economic center, the largest city in Herzegovina and the administrative center of the Herzegovina-Neretva county and university, cultural, economic and political center of the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is named after the bridge keepers (bridgewatchers) on the banks of the Neretva River. Belongs to one of the most beautiful cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It contains the old bridge, which together with the old town is on the list of protected cultural heritage by UNESCO since 2005. The wider area of ​​today's Mostar was populated in the prehistoric period, as evidenced by numerous sites from the Neolithic, Copper, Bronze and Iron Ages. After a tour of Mostar with a local guide, we will have a free time to enjoy the local delicacies.

After free time we start to return to Dubrovnik.

NATIONAL PARK MLJET

EXCURSION PLAN:

In the morning departure from Dubrovnik to Pelješac with a local guide. Upon the arrival to Pelješac we go on a short boat ride to the island of Mljet.

Mljet is one of the most beautiful and most forested islands in the Adriatic and one of the most attractive pearl of the Mediterranean. Isolated and untouched, the island´s mysticism, olive groves, vineyards and rich forests are ideal for exploring the rich flora and fauna, and to peacefully enjoy the pristine beauty of nature. It is mentioned in the fourth century BC in Greek writings, and any of the Greek amphora and shipwrecks along the island´s coast testify that the Greek sailors stayed on the island´s coast during the trip. Mljet National Park covers most of the island; several villages, two salt lakes - Big and Small Lake, a Benedictine monastery on the island of Santa Maria, In Polace is the best natural anchorages around the Adriatic.

Upon arrival on the island of Mljet walking tour of the island and all the sights, accompanied by a private guide. After getting to know the island follows the boat ride to the island of Santa Maria. At the island we will enjoy free time for lunch and swimming.

After lunch and enjoying the beauty of the National Park we return to Dubrovnik.

NERETVA VALLEY

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik in the morning with a guide. Prior arriving to Metković break in Neum, the only town in Bosnia and Herzegovina located on the coast. After a short break we continue our journey to Metković.

Upon arrival in Metković we start to visit the Ornithological Museum. The ornithological collection in Metkovic is opened in 1952. thanks to dr. Dragutin Rucner, an ornithologist from Zagreb. In museum you can see one of the largest collections of its kind in Europe. It contains more than 340 exhibits, among which are specimens of 218 species of birds of 310 species recorded so far on the Neretva.

After visiting the museum we go for a ride with boats on the river Norin which flows into the Neretva River. While driving, you can see all the diversity of vegetation of Neretva valley and observe numerous species of birds. Upon boat ride we have free time for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch we visit the Archeological museum. The museum was built over Augusteum, a temple dedicated to the divine Augustus. The most representative examples of many years of archaeological finds exhibited in the permanent collection of the museum. Total is exposed to about 900 findings (statues, pottery, jewelry, glass, money ...) with various locations in Narona, and they date from the end of the 3rd century BC.  to the 15th century AD. Museum is divided into indoor and outdoor part. In the outer part in front of the museum building there are exposed fragments and parts of the ornaments of the temple and the forum. Exhibition Hall is located on the site of the temple, where the statues of emperors and imperial family are exposed. The archaeological material is exposed in five showcases in which are materials from various locations around the museum.

After completing the tour of the museum we continue towards the Bacina Lakes. Bacina Lakes are a collection of lakes in Bacina city. The lakes are relatively small, but are among the most interesting phenomena in karst hydrography.

After a short break at the lake we return to Dubrovnik.

DISCOVER PELJEŠAC AND KORČULA

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik in the direction of the Peljesac peninsula. Pause in Ston for sightseeing walls and salt pans. After the Great Wall of China, Ston wall is the longest preserved wall in the world and it served as a defense line from  the attackers. Ston salt pans were the backbone of the economy of the Dubrovnik Republic since the salt in the Middle Ages was a very important resource. Although the salt pan is one of the oldest in Europe, still salt is produced in the old traditional way without the use of advanced technologies.

 

After a tour of the walls and salt pans we continue our drive to the winery. Upon arrival at the winery followed by a presentation of wines from the peninsula of Peljesac we will taste the most famous wines and local liquors.

After visiting the winery, we continue our ride to Orebic and boarding the ferry for the island of Korcula.

Korcula was inhabited since prehistoric times. According to legend, the island was settled by the Trojan hero Antenor in the 12th century BC, which is also known as the founder of the city of Padua. Island of Korcula is well known for a great merchant house of Marco Polo, who was trading with China.

 

After sightseeing Korcula we will have free time for lunch. After lunch we head to the ferry and return to Dubrovnik.

NATIONAL PARK PLITVICE LAKES

EXCURSION PLAN:

In the morning departure from Dubrovnik to the Plitvice Lakes.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is a special geological and hydrogeological phenomenon. The lakes were declared a national park on April 8. 1949. It is the largest, oldest and most popular Croatian national park. It represents a forested mountain area in which there are 16 lakes of various sizes, filled with crystal blue water. Lakes receive water from numerous rivers and streams, and they are connected by cascades and waterfalls. Travertine barriers, which occurred over a period of ten thousand years, are one of the fundamental features of the park. The special geographical location and specific climatic features have contributed to the occurrence of many natural phenomena and rich biodiversity. The travertine sediments formed from the Pleistocene to the present in sinkholes and depressions between the surrounding mountains. Upper Lake in the south predominantly consisting of dolomite and Lower Lakes in the north of the limestone rock.

Vast forest areas, exceptional lakes and waterfalls, flora and fauna, mountain air, contrasting autumn colors, trails and wooden bridges are park of a unique area that is a UNESCO world heritage from 1979.

Upon arrival in Plitvice Lakes National Park starts a tour accompanied by a local guide. After a detailed tour of the park we will have free time to enjoy pure nature and lunch.

After lunch we return to Dubrovnik.

GAME OF THRONES WALKING TOUR

EXCURSION PLAN:

Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss in cooperation with the TV station HBO. The series is an adaptation of novel "Song of fire and ice," by George R. R. Martin, of which one comes first "Game of Thrones". The series was filmed at a studio in Belfast and on location in Northern Ireland, Malta, Scotland, Croatia, Iceland, the United States and Morocco. One of the most interesting location shooting is Dubrovnik, which is depicted as King's Landing.

 

Private local guide will take you to all locations in the Old Town where they filmed scenes from the popular series. Get to know the locations and scenes such as the Red Keep, Docks of King's Landing, Littlefinger's brothel, Farmers' Market, House of the Undying, Walk of Shame and many other places.

EXPLORE SKADAR LAKE

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departing from Dubrovnik to the Skadar Lake with a guide.

Skadar Lake National Park is located on the border between Montenegro and Albania. Montenegro belong to two thirds of the lakes and the third on the territory of the Republic of Albania. Skadar Lake is situated in Zeta-Skadar basin, maintaining river Bojana and the Adriatic Sea, from where it was in the distant past separated chain of high mountains. With an area of ​​370 km2 to 530 km2, depending on the water level, is the largest lake in the Balkans. The lake is crypto, is filled with marsh vegetation and a large number of bird species. Its shores are indented and rich in numerous bays, peninsulas and capes, mostly swampy, overgrown with reed.

Upon arrival to the National Park Skadar in place Virpazar, boarding the boat, sailing and navigation Virsko channel under the bridge Vranjina to the islands Lesendro where the monastery is located Vranjina. It follows a visit to the monastery, and then continue the cruise towards the isle Grmožur which is located fortress of the same name. Enjoying the beauty of the national park with a tasting of national dishes on the boat will leave your stay on Lake Skadar breathless and recorded in deep memory.

The cruise ends at the boarding place Virpazar, from where we go back to Dubrovnik with a panoramic drive around the Bay of Kotor.

SPLIT AND SALONA HISTORY TOUR

After a tour of Ston, we will continue our drive to Split with breaks as needed. Upon arrival in Split we meet with a local guide and head in the view of the old town.

Split is the largest city in Dalmatia, the second largest city in Croatia, located on the Adriatic coast in central Dalmatia on Split (Marjan) peninsula, known for its ancient Diocletian's palace built by the Roman emperor Diocletian. Since the palace was far from the nearest large city 6 km (Salon), it was surrounded by walls. In the palace there are many attractions such as Diocletian's cellars and the church of St. Duje, which is known for its beautiful bell tower. Although the palace was built more than 1700 years,people still live there.

 After completing the tour of the old town we will have free time to enjoy the view on promenade and lunch in local restaurant.

After lunch we head to Salona, the ancient metropolis of Roman province located in the central part of the eastern Adriatic coast. In ancient times it was the capital of the province until the time of migration of peoples when it was abandoned and later, east of the ruins of the ancient city, Croatian medieval town of Solin was built.

After sightseeing of Salona we return to Dubrovnik.

RAFTING ON TARA RIVER

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik to Tara river in the early morning.

Raft Trip on the Tara River winds its way through 18 fun filled kilometers of beautiful scenery and tumbling white-water on the most exciting rapids from Brstanovica to Scepan Polje.

Upon your arrival breakfast is served to gain some energy for the rafting. After breakfast you will be given a short pre-trip briefing by your trip leader. This will cover what to bring and what not to bring on the raft. We have waterproof safety bags on every raft and you can take your mobile phones and cameras with you. You’ll get appropriate wet suit and boots, life jacket, helmet and paddle and then you are ready for short but scenic driving with terrain vehicle to Brstanovica, starting point of rafting..

Your guides will fit your river equipment to ensure safety, give you a very detailed safety talk and show you how to sit in the raft and how to paddle. This trip starts off with a slower pace with spirited Class 3 rapid, great for warming up and practicing your paddling skills and getting ready for bigger rapids.

Soon you will be getting very wet, screaming with excitement, paddling as well as laughing your way down rapids like Borovi, Varda, Celije, Vjernovića rapid… with stops at the most beautiful places, suitable for rest, camera shooting and swimming.

A tasty lunch back at the Rafting Centre completes your unforgettable Tara River rafting trip.

Enjoy free time in walking, or we can organize fishing in the Tara or Piva rivers, but also in the Piva lake. According to opinion of many fishermen, all areas are extremely rich with wild trout, grayling and sprout. Just contact us on time to reserve appropriate trip and rent fishing equipment.

DAY TRIP TO TROGIR AND SINJ

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departure from Dubrovnik to Sinj with a guide.

Upon arrival in Sinj, visit the Shrine of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj. The sanctuary was established in 1692. when the picture of Miraculous Lady was taken from Split and placed in the church of St. Francis, then the Franciscans in 1715. during the attack of the Turkish army passed it in Sinj fortress. Having destroyed the city of Sinj, Turks start an attack on the fort, but Miraculous Lady  appeared to the Turks and they left the city. Since then it is believed that Mother of God  saved Sinj from Turkish attacks.

After visiting the shrine, departure for the local horse farm, Alka race track, court and monument Alkar. Departure for Mustang Ranch, where you can ride trained horses. After riding, you will have lunch at the ranch, and then free time to enjoy in peacefull nature.

After free time, going to the cave Vranjača. Cave descends 110 meters underground, was discovered in 1903. and is rich with stalagmites and stalactites.

After a tour of the caves we will drive towards Trogir and city tour accompanied by a local guide. City of Trogir was founded by Greek colonists from the island of Vis in the 3rd century BC. In Central Europe Trogir was considered the best preserved Romanesque-Gothic city. The castle surrounded by walls and towers make up the core of Trogir.

The most important cultural monument is the cathedral, whose western portal doors made by master Radovan.

After a tour of Trogir, we return to Dubrovnik.

VJETRENICA CAVE

EXCURSION PLAN:

Departing from Dubrovnik we head towards the Majkovi. We stop at the photo panorama Gajina, where there is a beautiful view of the Elafiti islands. We continue our trip to Ravno, small village close to Vjetrenica cave.

Underground habitats of Vjetrenica make cave channels, cracks, groundwater. Vjetrenica is the most famous cave in Bosnia and Herzegovina, protected natural monument and tourist destination in the southeastern part of Herzegovina. A total of approximately 6,700 meters of underground channels and corridors. Speleological peculiarities of this unique cave are specific beauty, wide corridors and halls, many clusters of icicles, and a rich hydrographic world with many lakes, several waterfalls, more permanent streams and dozens of smaller periodic streams which flow different directions. Particularly attractive is the phenomenon of strong wind at the entrance and the significant flow of air in several places in the interior, as well as the ancient collapsing ceilings gigantic proportions. Protected natural monument since 1950, and in 1981 declared a geomorphological nature reserve. Vjetrenica is characterized by extremely rich cave world, in which is recorded more than 200 different animal species, of which more than 90 troglobites (animal fully adapted to life in the underworld), making it the first in the world for biodiversity.

After visiting the cave we go to lunch in a local restaurant and taste the local specialties such as meat under the bell and sweet liqueurs.

After lunch, we head back down the Popovo field, where we make a break for a photo panorama. After the photo panoramas we drive back to Dubrovnik.

WINE & OYSTER TASTING

EXCURSION PLAN:

After tasting we will have free time for lunch in Ston, in one of the of local restaurants. After lunch we go on a leisurely drive by boat and tasting of fresh oysters. Oysters are one of the rarest species of seashells in the world and is grown in only a few places in the Mediterranean.

 

After lunch we return to Dubrovnik.
